Womens Flat Track Roller Derby
The Rubber City Rollergirls are a diverse group of women brought together by a common thread - a love for skating! Roller derby has recently become America's fastest growing amateur sport, providing a perfectly good reason for grown adults to dust off those skates and get back in the rink.
You may ask "isn't roller derby a violent sport" or "aren't those girls mean?" The answer is "no" and "no"! Roller derby is a contact sport and an aggressive sport, but it isn't violent. There are standardized regulations set by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), which govern the sport - no elbows, no tripping, no being tossed over the railings!
And as for the "mean" part, no way! The Rubber City Rollergirls are accountants, stay-at-home-moms, IT consultants, engineers, nurses, students and hairdressers. (Have you ever met a mean hairdresser?)
